I retired recently and my wife and I couldn’t wait to load the truck up and hit the road, camper trailer in tow. Three problems – no truck, no trailer, and no towing experience. We don’t let small details get in the way, though, so we bought a pickup, rented a trailer and booked ourselves a two-day training program with RV Driving School. We’re so glad we did.The training program was led by an experienced, patient, enthusiastic instructor, and we came away with many practical skills that helped us get the most out of our first trailer camping experience, eight nights in Glacier National Park. We felt supported during the training, and learned how to operate safely and confidently in many situations. Among other things, my wife and I learned how to back the trailer into a camp site, to drive on narrow mountain roads, to navigate gas stations during fuel-ups, to set up the camper at the site, to do emergency repairs, and in general how to drive safely and defensively. We highly recommend RV Driving School.

Dear George Mayleben, My instructor, Jim Fischer was entirely professional. He provided me/us with information we had not been privy to. This was very important to me since my husband and I had learned by reading. Mr. Fischer kept me on point all the time. I tend to chat too much. It is very good to be reminded that driving is work. Practice was recommended, and what we did together in a parking lot was most helpful. He constantly reminded me to be slow in backing up. This was difficult as it seemed best to “GO” in the RV. It was the best instruction, for me.I am very thankful for this opportunity. It was easy, Mr Fischer was patient and pleasant.

I really enjoyed the driving course! Candace is anexcellent instructor and I love the way she teaches. She gets to know ya, watches how you drive, and keeps the student very involved in discussions about the rig. Her trips are excellent and she follows through when she states she will send more tips for the student!
Excellent instructor! Gets a A+++++++ from me!

My spouse and I were very pleased with the results we received through RV driving schools. Candace traveled approximately 150 miles to meet us at our site.SIGN UP
It was easy to sign up for the course. The instructor arrived on time and was friendly, professional, and experienced in driving as well as teaching.TRAINING:
My spouse has never driven an RV.
• My spouse did quite well and with my directing and her driving can back into a tighter spot that I can.
• This was her 1st time driving. She followed instructions and drove very well. I felt quite comfortable riding in the back.Me: I have been called a difficult and argumentative student.
• Candace remained calm and answered my questions thoroughly.
• We did several repeats of backing up between cones to demonstrate how her method worked better for backing in tight RV parks.PRICE:
I didn’t competitively check price due to the numerous referrals they have. Price was slightly less than hiring a private flight instructor. I have an ATP (Airline Transport Pilot) certificate.Overall a very good value. I would recommend the course to anyone having difficulty or fear regarding RV Driving. We may do a repeat course someday.

Mike was awesome. Highly recommend to anyone.
Carolyn S.I took the driving course and my husband, Steve (coincidently the same first name as the instructor) was a ride along. We plan to retire next year and to travel extensively across the U.S., so it just makes good sense to have two experienced drivers! We have a 40’ Allegro Bus and I wanted to be able to drive it with the same confidence that my husband has.
The RV course was exceptional and I can’t praise it enough! I was surprised that Steve Mulcahy, the instructor, was able to teach me so much in a relatively short period of time. He had the lessons pre-planned and the course basically covered every situation that you might run into. Just to name a few:
- Left and right turns
- Backing straight, on turns and into campsites
- City driving
- Freeway driving
- Maneuvering around road construction
- I also drove on a narrow, two lane, curvy road and then down a steep grade. There he taught me to use the supplemental brakes.
In addition to the actual driving course, he taught us how to test the brakes and how to do a complete safety check. He also pointed out numerous other factors that were specific to our motor home. We felt that Steve went over and beyond what was required of him!
It was a great weekend and money well spent! We both felt that Steve taught us so much! My husband has been driving an RV for over 10 years and is a very good driver, but he said he still learned from the lessons.
Steve Mulcahy is a very knowledgeable and professional teacher… and a nice guy too! 😊

We have been driving and traveling in an RV for 5 years and have driven over 50,000 miles. Are we experts – no. Can we learn new things – yes.
We took delivery of a new 40 ft diesel motorhome less than two weeks ago. Although we feel competent driving and traveling in an RV, we were somewhat anxious about driving a significantly longer motorhome, in addition to the additional factors of diesel operations.?? Based on these factors, we felt in would be helpful to take the RV driving school to review and improve our techniques as well as to learn new techniques and as an opportunity to identify bad habits and to eliminate those habits.
Our instructor, Jimmy Johnson, was a knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly person to deal with. I would call Jimmy’s method as coaching and teaching at the same time. His knowledge and insight and teaching method made it easy to understand and apply techniques and methods for better driving, and observing and “seeing” potential risk areas. We both think driving with Jimmy helped improve our driving. Jimmy was always open to answering any question that we had, clearly explaining his answers, and pointing out new cues that we can use for driving and maneuvering the motorhome. We were both concerned about being able to maneuver our new motorhome into our driveway and into our storage facility. Jimmy was extremely helpful in laying out a simulated driveway and storage slot and spent a lot of time helping us find cues and keys to be able to maneuver the new RV into either our driveway or storage slot. We are now confident that we can safely maneuver the RV into and out of tight areas.
Our takeaway from the RV driving school is that we feel like we have knowledge and techniques to improve our driving skills and operate the motorhome safely in constrained spaces.
We truly enjoyed our lessons with Jimmy and say thank you for an excellent learning experience. Jimmy is an excellent instructor as well as being just a great person to be around. We think we have made a new friend.
We highly recommend Jimmy Johnson as an RV driving school instructor.

We were so pleased with our driving instructor, Jimmy Johnson inAlabama. My grown daughter had never driven an RV, and was very nervous regarding the whole concept. Jimmy spent the first hour or so talking and reviewing common concerns, and how to correct them. This made her behind the wheel driving much more comfortable. Our main concerns were 90 degree tight right turns and back ins. He had her do these until she felt perfectly capable and comfortable, and even provided a few tips on how I could improve my current abilities.
We were an hour away from him and he graciously split the travel distance with us, meeting us half way. She drove on every type of road, and he put her through every typical type of situation. By the end of the lesson, my daughter was eager to drive, and Jimmy felt like family! This was one of the best investments ever and we highly recommend it to everyone! Can’t thank you enough!
