Betsy W.t was very nice to meet you Tuesday, at the Storage Place. It’s always nice to know the “neighbors” and there are lots of wonderful folks at TSP both in the office and storing their rigs.
Just wanted to let you know that I passed my KS Class B test. I feel strongly that taking the class from Matt (in Grain Valley traffic, construction zones, and rain!) really, really helped – helped me pass the test, AND helped save our marriage! – it would not have been so good, if Don had been the one who had to teach me!!!!
As I told you when we spoke, Matt did a really good job of giving me confidence. However, the one thing that could improve his lessons is giving a little less information all at once. I know it is all necessary, but sometimes it was too much to understand, all at once. He always asked me if I had any questions, but in the “student” role this time, I could empathize with many of my own students over the years (35+ years as a KS & MO certified music teacher) – when the student has received too much information to sort out, there are no questions, because they are too confused to know what to ask. I felt a lot like that the first day, and I know I missed some important information because when I tried to explain to Don, I sometimes couldn’t remember enough to give an accurate step by step account. When teaching, we try to get the students to a point that they can “teach it back”. If they can, then we are more confident that they know and understand the material. I certainly was not to that point, especially the first day.
When I asked you about a hand-out, I totally understood the fact that requirements vary by state. However, it would be helpful to have a hand-out for “coach” procedures such as the order required for tasks like checking lights, air brakes etc. I finally made up my own, but I was lucky because I had Don to “grade” my paper – believe me, mine needed some important corrections. However, not everyone has someone “in house” to help, so having these things correctly written out, in the order they should be done, might be very helpful to some students, especially ones like me, who have had no experience at all with a diesel rig. I can send you my “cheat sheet” if you would like to see it. It is nothing special, but something like this would have been extremely helpful to me the first day – and kept me from feeling overwhelmed and like maybe I shouldn’t have tried this (the lessons and test) in the first place.
There are different kinds of learners – aural, visual, and kinesthetic. The aural learners are much more likely to “get” the verbal information overload. The visual learners (like me) may need it written down, so we can “see” and study it. The kinesthetic learner will need to actually “do” it several times. My take from Matt’s lessons, is that he is more of an aural and kinesthetic learner rather than visual. Farmers usually are primarily kenesthetic. There is no one “better” way to be and learn – everyone has a bit of all the learning styles, but people naturally tend to teach in the primary way in which they learn. Teachers need to constantly access their methods to be sure they are reaching all styles of learners. So if you would like my “cheat sheet”, I can send I to you – just let me know.
Hope to see you around The Storage Place,
Joseph K.
L11839Joe was great. I was a little intimidated before the lesson and never having pulled the trailer before but he made it very easy and very comfortable with hands-on training and lots of verbal explanations. He kept things very simple for me and made the day very enjoyable. The course is well worth taking and should be mandatory for anybody pulling a travel trailer for the first time

I just returned from my driving lesson with Darrell Bright and wanted to let you know he is a wonderful and patient instructor. He is very knowledgeable and I appreciated the time he spent going over everything from a pre-trip check of the rig to how the mirrors should be angled and what we should see in them. Of course the actual driving and pulling of the rig was where he shined. Darrell patiently let me drive at the speed I was comfortable with and never took me into situations that were beyond my experience. This was literally the first time I was pulling anything! When it came time to advance to busier streets and tighter intersections Darrell was encouraging and my confidence level soared. Backing up was a little more challenging but I know with more practice I’ll be able to maneuver the rig exactly where I want it. The best part was at the end of the day my boyfriend and I both felt confident I could pull our RV and drive without problems. I’m so grateful to RV Driving School and didn’t even know this was the education I needed until I learned you existed!Best regards,

I completed my lesson today with Tom Peckenham. He was a great instructor. He was very thorough and provided some great tips.We are new to RVing and we are going on a cross country trip this summer. I feel a lot more confident now. I was fortunate to find your school while doing a random google search.Thank you for providing this service,

Thanks again for connecting me with Les Rodwell when your Howell instructor didn’t work out. I appreciate it and it helps enormously with our peace of mind in travel planning.Les was a wonderful instructor with a very nervous student. He was matter-of-fact in a gentle way, with constant reassurance during my time behind the wheel. I particularly appreciate how closely he observed me–my strengths and weaknesses–and tailored the driving and exercises accordingly. I can still hardly believe that I’ve emerged as a fairly confident driver, and I know my confidence will build with more practice. I felt safe the entire time because I knew he was paying sharp attention and suggesting constant adjustments in lane position, turning angles, et al the entire time. What else can I say? Les is a great guy, super knowledgeable, and genuinely interested in his students. Five+ stars all the way. We will recommend him and your RV school at every opportunity.Best regards,JoleneLesson 11693

My name is Mike Bower and I completed my RV Training today. My instructor was Gary Goldsberry. This is my first RV purchase so I obviously had a lot to learn and many questions to ask.Gary did a great job! He was extremely knowledgeable and experienced. His work experience with CDOT gives him a vast wealth of knowledge that he freely shared. My number one goal in taking this training course was to learn how to SAFELY navigate my way while driving a total of 20,000 lbs. of truck and trailer. Gary did a superb job of covering all aspects of safety…..many things I had never thought of!I feel very confident after this training in my ability to safely travel the highways and perform all the maneuvers necessary in the use of my RV.I would certainly recommend this training to anyone just beginning their RV life or even someone who has been RVing for years. Thanks for the opportunity to train with your Company!

I just completed 2 days with Candace Rivero in Elkhart IN. I had never driven a 40’ motor home before and I had told my husband I never would. But he talked me into lessons and she wan wonderful! It was the best experience I’ve had in a long time. Her instructions were so specific and concise that it was very easy for me to understand and follow! I recommended her to another camper in the place we were staying on my second day! Candace is a great benefit to you company.

Clyde Tew (my instructor) was fantastic! He went above and beyond. I do feel much more confident about driving and handling the Coach. Thank you, and you can use me as reference anytime.
