About half our States have no particular license requirement to drive your RV, so your regular license may be sufficient to drive an RV of any size. However some States require a person who drives a large RV for personal use to have an endorsement on your regular driving license or there may be other licensing requirements. You may hear the term “non-commercial CDL” in reference to some of the States’ requirement. The requirement is usually tied to the weight of the vehicle or the weight of the vehicle and/or trailer (for towable RVs). The specific States and their requirements is often changing so make sure you contact your State’s Motor Vehicle organization. If the State that issued your driver’s license is one of the 15-20 States that require these types of endorsements, we can arrange to accompany you so you can legally drive your RV to the DMV for your driving test.
