We recently had a 2 day lesson with Frank Piccolo, starting from Auburn Gold Country RV Park, in Auburn, CA. I’ve been driving our 2014 Class A for 25,000 miles now, and travel trailers for ~30 years before this, but still see room for improvement. My wife Carol had never driven anything larger than a minivan. We wanted her to be able to spell me on longer days, and take over in some unforeseen circumstance.
On the morning of the first day, Carol was petrified. Frank directed me to a nearby business park with good roads and almost no traffic, where Carol took over. After a short while she realized she could do this, and was actually looking forward to the second day. Frank had me drive on some winding foothill roads and the freeway, and pointed out a few things I could do better.
On the second day, Carol was driving in town and on the freeway—her goal for the class! She is over the fear now and looking forward to another chance to drive.
Frank was great! He notices everything, and provides clear, low-stress instructions and corrections in a way that instills confidence. He was also a pleasure to meet and ride with! We would recommend this class to anyone wanting to learn and/or improve their RV driving skills.
