I had my trailer towing lesson with Brian on Sunday and Monday. Brian is fantastic and I learned a ton.

It started with a rough situation- I was pulling out of my driveway to head to the parking lot where we were scheduled to meet, and I got a flat tire on my trailer.  Every tire store in town was closed because it was Sunday.  I texted Brian and told him I didn’t know what to do.  He offered to come to my house and change my tire for me!  This put us an hour and a half behind, but I considered it part of my lesson- I learned how to change a tire on my trailer (but I don’t have one of those big jacks so I still don’t think I could do it myself)

He then followed me to the parking lot about a half hour away and after an initial inspection and some general advice, we did about 2.5 hours of practicing backing up.  He taught me 45 degree and 90 degree jack and follow and swoosh, (on both sides) with step by step instructions for each, plus he had me just practice backing in a straight line or changing lanes in reverse.

On the second day he spent significantly more than 4 hours with me since the first day got started late, even though it was my fault. We repeated everything from day 1, and he also taught me how to parallel park with the trailer.  He helped me write down the steps for the various backing in techniques.   Then we hit the road.  He directed me to a CAT scale and showed me how to have my truck and trailer weighed, then he had me drive on varied roads and traffic conditions on the way to an area with some fairly steep hills, where he taught me how to downshift.

These are the highlights but there was so much more.  He also inspected my trailer and taught me some things to look for, made sure it was hooked up correctly etc.  We discussed the towing capacity of my truck and the weight of my trailer and he confirmed I have an appropriate set up.   And he gave me numerous tips and lots of advice.  And he was a total pleasure to work with.  We had an enjoyable conversation while we were driving.  He’s just a super nice guy.

I have no complaints and can’t think of anything that could be improved.  It really was a fantastic experience and Brian was wonderful, very knowledgeable, a good teacher,  and also very nice. Plus the extra above-and-beyond of changing my flat tire for me. Afterward I went home and backed my trailer into my driveway successfully.

I just hope I gave him a good tip- I had no idea what a typical tip might be and what would be considered a good tip.

Thanks for providing this service.  There’s no way someone could learn this stuff by watching videos. I will be towing my trailer from Arizona to Michigan by myself in a couple months.  I’m still a little intimidated by the idea, (mostly if there’s bad weather or wind) but I’m much more comfortable now than I was before this course.

You have yourself a gem of an instructor in Dana.  He was an excellent teacher – very informative and patient and he has nerves of steel (lol).  Great learning experience for both me (the driver taking lessons) and my husband who learned just by sitting there and listening.

Thank you very much!!!

As my wife Sandy said in her email we appreciate FMCA putting on this driving class. It made her feel more at ease and I even learned a few things I didn’t know.
Thanks,

Larry was very thorough, professional, and courteous and made my family feel most accomplished during the lessons. Due to his tutelage we feel very confident in our abilities to drive our new RV. The program is fine as is, don’t tweak what not is necessary. Larry’s persona is very well suited for his role as a mentor.
Cordially,

Below is a link where you can download 3 short videos and a photo from our lesson with Mark. Mark is a patient instructor and very thorough about maintenance and other safety matters and best practices. It was a great idea that he took us to get our rig weighed so we could correctly do the weight distribution hitch. We enjoyed our lesson and would recommend this course and our instructor, Mark, to other drivers who are new to towing a travel trailer. It’s a small investment compared to the cost of a travel trailer and the safety at stake!

My name is Terry and my friend Krista and I had the pleasure of having two days of RV driving lessons with Phillip Beasley, in Foley, Alabama the first of March in a 35’ Newmar diesel coach.

Of course, we were anxious to drive this huge thing on “real streets” and a little nervous taking instruction from someone we did not know. From the moment we met Phil, he made us feel comfortable and helped us relax. He started off getting to know us and started to build a relationship with us so we could develop trust in him.

Throughout the lesson he was very complimentary, never seemed to get upset or frustrated, and eager to answer any questions we had. His explanations were always clear and easy to understand. Since Krista and I were both educator we greatly appreciated his method of instruction and positive comments throughout both days.

Krista and I now feel confident to drive the coach through traffic, “real roads”, and even through a gas station. Phil made this experience fun and allowed us to build our confidence in our overall handling of this coach that we will use for years to come. We both have great respect for Phil and will definitely be recommending him and your company in the future.

I’d like to share some feedback with you on my RV Driving School lesson with my instructor, Randy.
First, I thoroughly enjoyed the two day class. I learned so much valuable information and many skills that will help me throughout my new fulltimer life.
Randy is a great instructor! He did a great job explaining the written material. He gave great examples and made it easy to understand. I’m grateful to him for his wisdom and sharing it with me.
I’m driving an F350 Dually and towing a 37′ fifth wheel with much more confidence than I would be without the training.
Thank you to Randy & to RV Driving School!! Well worth the time and money and I highly recommend it to everyone starting out in the RV life.
I shared a photo of my truck & rig on day one of class.
Thank you again!

I am very happy I took your rv school.  Joe Powell was very informative.  Only suggestions:

When calling for RV driving schedule, should be followed with a confirmation text. I heard and wrote 1 pm and Joe called at 8 am looking for me.
I downloaded the notes and it was not the slide presentation; also download was for 2022.
A more accurate description of class when registered would be helpful. I was surprised that driving portion would be  4 hours and that backing,  street/highway included.  Glad it was, but not  initially aware.
All in all,  I would recommend your driving school.

George – I cannot say enough good things about the school. I have been driving a Class A for over 10 years, but thought I could always “learn something.” My wife had never driven the Class A, so she took the course as well. I learned a lot more than “something.”  I learned a lot in the classroom with Joe and in the rig with Jimmy Johnson. They both answered every question to my satisfaction.  Jimmy’s experience with Tiffin was especially helpful as we have the Allegro Bus.

I feel as if I and my wife each received the value for our investment.

Both gentlemen were delightful, were attentive, professional, friendly and thorough.

I would recommend your course to anyone, regardless of experience level.

Sincerely,

Tom L.

Mark was great.  5 stars.  Was very helpful to us newtimers to understand how to drive it and providing many tips.  Great approach and attitude.  Well worth it and made us more comfortable with this rig.
