My wife and I took the two day couple training.  We drive a 40′ diesel pusher using an air brake system. Our trainer, Dan Sheppard, made contact with us at our site the day before our traiing started to introduce himself. The next day before we left our site we went over a number of items regarding our specific coach. We learned a lot that I had questions about before even leaving the site for the driving lesson. The lessons were tailored to our needs. Each morning we spent significant time making right and left turns around small neighborhood roads and then took the rig into heavy traffic areas making tight turns learning how to do them safely. The instructor was very calm and patient through all of this.

For us the last half day was worth the full cost of admission! This is when we practiced backing up the rig and getting into campsites. Those times have been extremely stressful for my wifephoto and I. We were taught how to set the rig up for backing into a site and how to communicate effectively with each other. One person is the designated driver and the other person is the director. For us my wife and I quickly decided that it works better when she drives and I direct. Our first time out following our lessons we pulled up to a campsite requiring us to back in avoiding trees, two big ditches and a Ford F150 4X4. My wife got behind the wheel and I got out to direct. Before the rig was placed in reverse a concerned camper came out to inquire of my wife how skilled she was in backing up as he had seen other rigs get into trouble backing into this site. We both politely told him we had been trained so he shook my hand and went back to his site. Ten minutes later we were safely in our site exactly where we wanted it! There was very little stress on our part arriving into this site with no arguments feeling good about our new abilities. The couple across from us came over to congratulate us. As they were doing that another woman walked by and gave us a thumbs up. The an who originally came up to question my wife later came by to say that after watching us back in he could tell we were good people through the way we communicated with each other. Wow! How much better our RV experience has become with some competent training! We called our trainer the next day and profusely thanked him for his professional training. My wife and I are both retired and full-time RVers so this goes to show that you can teach even older people new tricks
